Today Alistair Burt met with family members of people who lost their lives while under the care of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. Read his statement following the meeting below.
Health Minister Alistair Burt said:
"Today I met patients and family members who feel desperately let down by the failings at Southern Health. I wanted to express my deep concern and apologies to them and listen to their views.
"I want to see speedy improvement to the way Southern Health delivers its services. It’s clear that while plans are in place, there is still a long way to go. I want to consider these plans further, and talk to the trust and regulator further.
"I will continue keep a close watch on developments and I’m determined that the Trust and the wider NHS should learn the lessons from the tragedies at Southern health."
